Define direct memory access(DMA)

DMA is feature that allows peripheral devices to transfer data to & from computer memory without involving the cpu directly instead of cpu managing data transfer.DMA controllers take over, improving overall system effeiciency.DMA reduces cpu overhead & allows cpu to focus on other taskes while data is moved beyween peripherals & memory.
