In 1913, Niels Bori offered an atom model to explain the stability of the atoms and the spectrum of hydrogen line. The main assumptions of his model are: 1. The electrons rotate in fixed circuits (energy levels). The electrons move around the nucleus in a circular path called orbital or shell. These circuits are also known as energy levels or fixed states. In these circuits, electrons do not lose their energy. 2. The quantity of angular motion The angular motion of the electrons in a particular circuit is quantity. Is given by the formula: Mvr = 2π/nh
where , M = mass of electron V = electron speed r = radius of path n = major quantum numbers (1, 2, 3 ...) H = Planck Fixed 3. Energy is absorbed or released during transfer One electron can jump from one circuit to another. Jumping a higher path will absorb energy. Jumping into the lower orbit ejects energy. Change of energy matches the difference between the two levels.
Δ𝐸 = 𝐸2 -E1 = ℎ𝜈 Where, ν = frequency of radiation H = Planck Fixed
